Another visit today

We had another visit today with the boys. Went to Wal-mart & Funtastic Pizza. The court date was moved to like July 17th, but that is being hopefully moved back to June. Will keep you posted, of course. Prayers are really needed right now. Still just trusting in God & holding onto faith that it will all work out!

Patience - Process of Adoption

We attended the first session of our four days of training for DHS Foster/Adopt Pride classes.
The good part of the classes is, it is a subject we know & care about to sit thru long periods of time but it is still classes & it wore us out! We learned so much about the foster care system and how kids come thru from abuse, drugs, etc & it will tear your heart out. I cried during one video. If makes you so appreciative of the loving christian home that your child is in & you just want to sit & hold your child because you never want them to have to go thru some of the things we've heard about this weekend. Nevertheless, We are in this program called "The Call" for Lonoke County & it is specifically preparing christian homes for fostering in a fast track program becasue normally it would take like 3 months to do these classes. So not only are we learning, but it is in an enviornment of families who also want to minister to these families about the love of the Lord, etc.

We have some loose ends to tie up with questions that sill are unanswered but this seems to be the current info we have:

1. The May 15th court date was moved to sometime in June. We still have to determine if that hearing is to finalize the TPR (term of parental rights) that took place for the mom in April or if it is a hearing to decide a plan of action for adoption (look at all potential adoptive applicants). We just have no clue.

2. We have to finish our classes on May 31st/June 1st.

3. The social worker from DHS will have to come out a 2nd time & wrap up our homestudy to get our home opened & approved to "accept children". Hopefully at that point we can transfer the boys in to our care & we can be the foster parents until placement. The Colorado couple is still in the picture, so I don't know how that will all turn out. The lady today said they will put us at the top of the list to approve us priority because of the severity of our case but there is another couple trying to adopt their 1 y/o nephew who will also be priority.

4. If the boys get transferred into our care & the judge chooses us, there will be a hearing to "pre-place" them with us for a temporary 6 months ( just like Autumn). Then at the end of that 6 mos, there will be another hearing? and they will be officially ours. ( I don't think we went to court when Autumn was 6 mos old).

That's about it in a nutshell.

Final thoughts:

If you know of anyone who has ever remotely thought about being a foster parent, please have them contact me just to attend an informational meeting at a local church here in Cabot. It can really make a difference in the lives of these kids who need christian families to show them how normal families can live & love them day to day & represent the Lord.

If you know of anyone who has any type of items to donate such as beds, clothes, baby items...anything please let me know & I can get you the information to our leader. She has a basement where she keeps car seats, cribs, shoes, lamps, monitors, etc...anything foster homes can use.

Amy

Nothing New.......

For those checking in to see if there is any news on the boys, there isn't today. Still kinda waiting
on May 15th to see what that hearing is gonna actually be about at court. We still have to take some classes the end of this month for DHS. We are going to see them tomorrow night for a couple of hours to visit & play. If anything new happens, I will for sure post!!

Looking Back.......

This was our first official family photo together. We were so tired and didn't sleep the night before as you could imagine. Hard to believe it was 4 years ago. Seems like yesterday.
This is one of my most favorite pictures of Autumn the day after she came home with us.
I think she was a little over 1 day old here. So very sweet! I kept saying she looked liked cotton candy.
This is Autumn on the left & cousin Jaclyn on the right at my baby shower in Maumelle. I think Autumn was about a month old & Jaclyn was about 7 weeks here. Very sweet! Like twins almost.
